Stores are looking at every possible way to attract customers and now many are deciding that the quickest way to your wallet is through your pet. More and more places are becoming dog friendly in order to earn more business. Want to go out for a day of shopping or a night on the town with your favorite dog? Don’t laugh skeptics, there’s a new pooch friendly trend being born. From Nordstrom to the Body Shop, stores that sell non-pet related merchandise are looking for ways to make their establishments more pet friendly; and thanks to a new online resource, Bay Area residents can search out and patronize these fido-friendly retailers.

Fido Factor is a relatively new website, providing listings of stores in the Bay Area where pets are welcome. Now pet owners can venture online and discover listings for dog friendly stores, lodgings, parks, and much more. They also offer a variety of articles (authored by the ASPCA) on traveling safely with your pet.

In addition helping pet owners find new ways to stimulate the local economy, Fido Factor is helping to make a difference in the lives of animals in shelters. Every time someone adds a new fido-friendly location or writes a review of a place already listed on the site, Fido Factor will make a donation to the San Francisco ASPCA. So please, help spread the word. This is a simple way to help make a difference in the lives of pets in need.
